Martin Varsavsky

Martin Varsavsky is founder and CEO of Wi-Fi reseller Fon and a veteran of Spanish language telecom companies. Varsavsky founded Viatel in 1991, a fiber circuit operator connecting Western Europe and the east coast of the United States. Vitatel went public in 1994 and Varsavsky later sold his stake for $200 million. In 1997 Varsavsky founded Jazztel Telecommunications to provide broadband access to residential and commercial users in Spain. Jazztel went public in late 1999. Varsavsky founded in 1999 as a Jazztel web portal subsidiary and sold the business to Deutsche Telekom in 2000.
